CCSE results

  • The CCSE test, which consists in 25 questions with single correct (closed) answers, is marked automatically.
  • Correct answers receive 1 point and incorrect answers 0 points.
  • Candidates must answer 15 of the 25 (60 %) questions correctly to pass the test, i.e., the same criterion as applied to earn the Spanish as a foreign language diploma, the ‘DELE’.
  • The tests are first marked automatically on candidates’ examination sheets. The Cervantes Institute’s Academic Division then analyses the overall results in each centre or country where the test was administered to check for uniformity and explore any deviations or incidents that may have arisen. When marking has been verified to have taken place correctly, the results are recorded and subsequently published around 20 days after the date of the exam.
  • Candidates may see their results online by logging into their user account page on this website with the user and password furnished when they registered.
  • A certificate showing the result, signed electronically by the Cervantes Institute, can be downloaded from that page at any time. The certificate is assigned a secure verification code that attests to the authenticity of the printed copy.
  • The Cervantes Institute’s certificate informs candidates whether they PASSED, FAILED OR DID NOT SIT THE TEST. It does not provide information on the exact score.
  • The electronic document serves as official substantiation for the intents and purposes of Spanish citizenship proceedings and is valid for 4 years from the date of issue.
  • Further to the conditions established by the Cervantes Institute,  after the results for the initial test have been published, candidates who FAILED or DID NOT SIT the test on the first date scheduled are entitled to register for a second attempt at no extra cost.

Review procedure

Candidates failing the test and dissenting from the result may use their user account page to apply to the Cervantes Institute once only and within the established deadline to have their result reviewed.

The test documents will then be analysed, along with the reports of its administration by the testing centre, after which the Cervantes Institute will notify the candidate, via their user account page, of the decision adopted.

Requests for access to or return or reproduction of the test documents will not be honoured.
